About the teacher:
My teaching is structured, informative and best of all...fun to learn. I love playing, teaching and talking drums. My one-to-one class is everything about drumming, music, and becoming the true person you were meant to be. If you hear drums and are thinking of playing...or you play currently and want to get a lot better, let me know. I've spent a lifetime playing and would like to show you what I know. My favorite area of specialty... rock, punk, funk and groove. I owe a world of gratitude to my mentors Allen Herman and Jackie Browne, students of the great Joe Morello and Jim Chapin. My teachers also include Armand Santarelli,  Joel Rothman, Patty DeVoe and Al Duffy.

I have guided  beginners to players  from the starting gig, to the touring band to the "Gold Record" and my teaching studios have been featured in Modern Drummer, Time Out Kids, Tom Tom On-line, Drummergirl, Go Mag. I was  founder/drum instructor for Female Drummers Workshop in Brooklyn for twenty years and Director/Drum Instructor for First Flight Music School in Manhattan.
Find a category below that might help describe you and call or shoot me an email about your drumming. You can always come over for "Open Studio" to check it out.

Student quotes:

Advice from a mom of an awesome teenage girl
to other parents of girls in need of empowerment: get that girl behind a drum kit!! And if you live in NYC, call Paula and set up lessons. The experience is more powerful than you might think and the opportunity of a lifetime." Ms. Perri N.

Thank you so much for your teaching! My two children love your drum lessons and we intend to continue for this year as we have done for the last three years.  Edwin G.

I started studying with Paula ten years ago.
I have been playing drums with my bofriend Matt in our band Schwervon. We are a band that tours here and throughout Europe. Paula is a very special teacher in that in that she always provides you with tools to improve your playing...but she individualizes her lessons to fit where you are at in that moment in time. Her positivity, wisdom and punk rock attitude have only motivated me to discover my drumming potential! That is the sign of a great teacher. I am so thankful I was able to study with her. Nan T.

"Self-teaching
did not get me too far........"
Taking lessons with Paula was immeasurably valuable. She knew from the first lesson exactly what I needed to do to become confident and play well on the instrument. Many, many thanks! John Anderson, common prayer (band)
